After the pick up at your hotel you will be taken to our office where you will receive an informative and safety briefing about the Segways, together with the necessary equipment. As soon as everyone is ready and comfortable on the Segway the tour will start.

The first part of the tour will be on the bicycle lane to help you to get used to the Segway and to reach the village of Santa Maria, where you will get off road and head in direction of Vila Verde village, before to reach the most beautiful white sandy beach of Sal: Ponta Preta.

The last part of the tour will be across the beach until the road that leads back to our office.

Cape Verde is the third biggest nesting point for the Caretta Caretta, loggerhead turtles. This night tour will take you to one of the protected nesting beaches of Sal island where you can experience the emotion of seeing a loggerhead turtle laying her eggs. You will be picked up at the reception of your hotel and taken to one of the nesting beaches on Sal island. The transfer lasts approximately 20 minutes and in this time an experienced guide will explain you everything you need to know about the life and habits of the turtles as well the rules that you need to respect. Once arrived to the beach one of the guides will stay with you seated on the sand while the other guide will start searching for the turtle. When the guide finds a turtle, you will be informed by VHF radio and start walking on the beach to arrive to the turtle. It is recommended to bring a beach towel to be more comfortable while waiting on the beach. Dark colored clothes and closed shoes are recommended. It is forbidden to take photos with flash and use white or bright lights on the protected beaches.

Please note that even if we have a very high success rate, being nature, we cannot guarantee to see a turtle. In case this happens, you will be given the chance to come another day FOR FREE!

With this excursion, we support the conservation of the sea turtles of Sal Island by donating part of the profits to the local non-profit @ProjectBiodiversityCV. Their guards and volunteers have been protecting the turtles for the last four nesting seasons! If you would like to help even more, you can also adopt a baby turtle in our offices, and take home a nice official certificate of adoption (all money goes to the protection of sea turtles).

You will be picked up from you hotel by a professional guide and after an informative transfer of approximately 25
minutes you will arrive to the eastern part of the island, the nursery of the lemon sharks, where you can see the lemon sharks in their natural environment. Once arrived you will be taken into the water to see them from close, because these sharks don't represent a threat to humans. In order to enter into the water, you will need proper shoes for walking on rocky surface (It is also possible to rent them on the spot for 2 euro/person).
Please note that even if we have a very high success rate, being nature, we cannot guarantee to see the sharks.

After the tour and before to head back to Santa Maria, as an extra, we will take you to the top of the volcano of Pedra de Lume to see the stunning view of the Salt Flats built into the crater.

Once ready, you will start discovering the beaches of the south coast of the Island driving our ATV 500cc 4x4 Quad Bikes. You will pass by the Natural Reserve of Serra Negra to reach the Oasis of Palha Verde, where you will cross on the other side of the island to reach the Lion Mountain. Here begins the second part of the Tour: get ready to jump into the Atlantic Ocean!

You will get to wear the snorkelling equipment that includes mask, snorkel, flippers and wetsuit. After that, you will be briefed by the crew who will explain you everything you need to know before to get into the water.

The tour starts with the pick up at your hotel after which you will be taken to our main office where you will need to show your driving licence and get your gear for the adventure.
