Boa Vista Island Trip

After being picked up at your hotel and taken to the airport of Sal, you will have a 15 minute flight to arrive to Boa Vista. Driving through Rabil village, the former capital of the island, you can see the Church of San Roque, the oldest church of the island where you still find its original features and you pay a visit to Olaria, a Factory-school of ceramics where you can admire the full process from clay to art piece.

Continuing through Ribeira Rabil, we enter and cross the amazing Viana Desert. Beautiful white sandy dunes change the landscape daily. Heading towards the south, you first arrive in Povoação Velha, the first village of the island, before getting to Santa Monica beach; here you will have time to enjoy the famous 18 km long beach with fine white sand and stunning turquoise sea.

On the way back to Sal Rei, you discover Ponta da Varandinha, a beach aligned with cliffs and rock formations with caves. It is loved by surfers and due to its good conditions it’s also one of the nesting places of the Loggerhead turtles.

Lunch is held in a local restaurant where you can try out some typical Cape Verdian dishes.

After lunch it’s time to discover Sal Rei, the current Capital of the island. The houses are influenced by colonial architecture and the lifestyle is quiet and simple, “No Stress”. When you’ve passed the pier and local fish market, walked around the main square and visited the small church, it’s time to head back to the airport for your flight back to Sal, and your transfer to the hotel.
